THE Property Industry Foundation (PIF) has raised in excess of $40,000 for youth homelessness at its recent annual Victoria Corporate Charity Cycling Day.
In its second year, the Corporate Charity Cycling Day aims to inspire the property industry to reflect on the issues homeless youth face every day and to celebrate the great work Open Family Australia’s “Chatterbox Bus” initiative does for the community.
The Chatterbox Bus provides a link between youth on street and the services they need as well as providing aid in food, clothing and health supplies.
The event was sponsored by GPT, along with Holding Redlich and Pellicano and event partners Built, Montlaur, Rothe Lowman, Slattery and Villawood Properties. The sold out event saw 125 participants gathered at the Village Departé on the grounds of the RACV Club in Healesville before pedalling through the challenging 60km or 100km course.
Participants tackled the mountainous climbs in a battle to claim the ultimate title of King and Queen of the Mountain.
“It’s such an inspiring day built upon physical stamina and friendly banter, all whilst raising money for homeless youth. We thank everyone who was involved and pedalled their hearts out,” PIF Victoria chairman Daryl Browning said.
Taking out the title was David Kelly of Slattery who completed the course in 20.57 minutes and Niki Hendriksen of Villawood Properties who finished in 32.28 minutes.
The Charity Sailing Challenge will be next on the Property Industry Foundation’s Victorian agenda.
