THE Victorian government has appointed UDIA executive director Tony De Domenico as chairman of the state development agency, Places Victoria.
For the past 10 years, De Domenico has led the Victoria Division of the Urban Development Institute of Australia, which he has resigned from to accept the appointment.
Planning minister Matthew Guy said De Domenico’s 40 year career has incorporated various roles across the higher education, international diplomacy and government sectors
Most recently, he has served as deputy chancellor of La Trobe University, from 2009 and as president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“With a rejuvenated board, management team and CEO, the Coalition Government has transformed Places Victoria into a more focused and more responsive organisation.
“It is now in a position to draw on its experience in urban renewal and property development to maximise returns to government and create opportunities for the private sector in years to come,” Guy said.
