LEND Lease has appointed global green expert Paul King as managing director of sustainability for its European region
King will join Lend Lease from February 2015. He will replace Pascal Mittermaier who is taking up a new not-for-profit position overseas.
He is currently the CEO of the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC).
Lend Lease CEO of international operators Dan Labbad said sustainability is a core operating principle at Lend Lease.
“This is an exciting appointment and I am delighted that Paul has chosen to join Lend Lease as we embark on our plans for international growth. Paul is a highly regarded and influential industry figure,” Labbad said.
“Paul will be responsible for the European region’s overall sustainability strategy, shaping its implementation and future direction. Today, Lend Lease has over $AU23 billion (£12.65 billion) of major urban development projects targeting, or already achieving, green certification around the world.
“This includes three developments out of only 18 globally participating in the C40 Cities’ Climate Positive Development Program: Elephant & Castle in London, Barangaroo in Sydney and Victoria Harbour in Melbourne. Lend Lease’s residential business in Europe is rapidly establishing itself as a market leader, having won outline planning consent for 1,200 homes in Central London in the last 12 months alone,” he added.
King said he was excited to join the company.
“I also look forward to continuing to support the Green Building Council movement through Lend Lease’s very active membership of this dynamic network,” King said.
