CFS Retail Property Trust has selected Probuild as the preferred contractor for the latest expansion to Chadstone shopping centre.
Probuild is not unfamiliar with Chadstone, having completed every major stage of the shopping centre since 1989 and will undertake early works on this new stage in June 2014.
The latest stage will expand the centre by 34,000 sqm to more than 212,000 sqm, and a new 10-level 17,000 sqm office building.
With a construction value of more than $300 million, the project adds to Probuild’s current $3 billion national pipeline of work across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia.
Probuild’s Victorian managing director Dean Lockhart said the win cements the group’s position in Melbourne where it is currently building a large number of apartments in the city.
“One of Probuild’s earliest projects was extending Chadstone back in the 1980s and we have been on site as the centre has evolved and expanded ever since,” he added.
