THE Queensland government has awarded Watpac a $350 million contract to build 10 new schools, as part of the Plenary Schools consortium.
Watpac is the building contractor under the Public Private Partnership agreement.
Watpac’s component of the works program is valued at $350 million and involves the design and construction of new schools in Pimpama, Burpengary, Pallara, Ripley Valley, Springfield, Griffin, Bellbird Park, Caboolture and Redbank Plains.
The anticipated five-year construction program will commence in January 2014 and is expected to create more than 3,000 jobs throughout the life of the project.
Other consortium members include Plenary Group (project sponsor, financial arranger and equity investor) and Delta FM Australia (facilities management).
