THE Municipal Group of Valuers, the largest discussion group of the Australian Property Institute, has bestowed the inaugural “Emerging Leader Awardâ€.
The MGV represents the interests of the statutory valuations area of the valuation profession and last Friday night, the MGV bestowed Patrick McNulty with the “Emerging Leader Award”.
McNulty is hoping to be a Certified Practicing Valuer currently working for the City of Stonnington and he was chosen from a quality field as the successful candidate to take the prestigious accolade.
Lauren Ashley from Mornington Peninsula Shire and Elise Monahan from Matheson Stephens Valuers were the other two finalists.
MGV president Graham Brewer said the award has been created to encourage younger members coming through the valuation profession.
“The award involved developing and presenting an abstract for a proposed research project relevant to Statutory Valuations. The selection process included an interview by a panel made up of a renowned academic and leading industry figures,” Brewer said.
The prize consists of a $6,000 bursary to be dedicated to the cost of travel, accommodation and attendance at an international conference and such overseas research as the project requires.
The results of the research will then have to be presented back in Australia. It is sponsored by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of specialist software to the industry, as well as the MGV.
