THE Real Estate Institute of Queensland has elected Rob Honeycombe as a new chairman.
Honeycombe was recently elected by the board and will officially take over as chairman on 1 January 2014. At 44 years of age, he is one of the youngest chairmen in recent REIQ history.
Honeycombe’s election comes following the retirement of incumbent Pamela Bennett, who was the REIQ chairman for four and a half years and on its board for nearly 15 years.
With a successful agency in Brisbane’s inner-suburbs — Bees Nees City Realty in South Brisbane — Honeycombe has been a real estate salesperson since the age of 21. Formerly from Ayr and Townsville, he founded his own agency in 2006. Honeycombe has completed four years as an REIQ director and his passion remains the continued professionalism of the industry.
“I am honoured to have been elected the REIQ chairman and am looking forward to continuing to assist the Institute through its current transformative phase. I am also excited about helping to create a profession that is an attractive long-term career prospect for a new generation of agents,” he said.
