DISCOVERY Holiday Parks has completed of the first stage of the $150 million expansion of the Onslow accommodation park in Western Australia.
With $60 million already invested, stage one comprises 96 rooms taking the total rooms at the property to approximately 300.
The second stage of the project commenced last month and will add a further 120 rooms.
On completion of the final stage the park will offer up to 880 rooms.
The expansion project involves a complete site regeneration with new facilities including a 320-seat dining room, significantly enhanced and expanded kitchen, conference rooms, and extensive recreation facilities incorporating a bar and gymnasium.
Discovery CEO Grant Wilckens said the expansion will help address local accommodation issues and make a significant contribution to the local community.
“We are delighted to be able to significantly invest in the local community with the park now employing more than 60 staff, not to mention the additional follow on investment additional visitors will bring.
“We believe this is a model that can be replicated in other regional locations which continue to experience accommodation shortages.
“Through our network of strategically located sites around the country, which we own and operate, we provide accommodation services for tourists and long term affordable housing customers as well as blue chip resources companies on a number of major projects such as the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project near Onslow,” he said.
