BURSA Malaysia-listed developer UEM Sunrise Berhad has completed the acquisition of two land parcels in Melbourne CBD from Jimmy Goh.
UEM Sunrise has settled on the purchase of 224-252 LaTrobe St and 9-23 Mackenzie St.
The company paid $65.65 million for the development sites in August this year. The deals were negotiated by CBRE’s Mark Wizel and Josh Rutman with Colliers International’s John Marasco and Matthew Stagg. Thomsons Lawyers partner Eu Ming Lim acted as the legal adviser.
UEM Sunrise managing director Dato’ Wan Abdullah said the acquisition marks the company’s maiden venture into the Australian market, identified as one of the key countries under its strategic regional expansion plan.
The company has shortlisted three architectural firms, COX Architecture, Elenberg Fraser and Fender Katsalidis to come up with plans.
“We aspire to create projects that are of valuable addition to the city skyline, and which showcases our ability to deliver quality and unique offerings and products.
“These aspirations will be achieved with the synergy of the company’s strong track record in high-rise mixed-use and residential developments and experiences largely in Malaysia and also in Singapore and Canada, in creative collaboration with eminent project consultants,” Abdullah said.
