THE Western Australian government has appointed new ministers for housing and commerce.
The Real Estate Institute of Western Australia president David Airey said these two portfolios had the biggest impact on those working in the residential housing sector.
“I’d like to place on record the excellent working relationship REIWA had with outgoing commerce minister, Simon O’Brien, and thank him for his work on pending changes to the Residential Tenancies Act,” he added.
Airey said he looked forward to meeting with incoming commerce minister and attorney general, Michael Mischin.
He also welcomed the return of Bill Marmion to the housing portfolio, a position he held in 2010, saying that he shared Marmion’s previously expressed concerns around affordability for first home buyers and looked forward to further policy discussions on the topic.
