BROOKFIELD Multiplex has been appointed by Health Infrastructure to construct the new Clinical Services Building at the Royal North Shore Hospital.
The building will deliver an additional 30,000 sqm of health services to the campus and forms part the $150 million project, which will be funded by the New South Wales government.
Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director David Ghannoum said this appointment builds on the company’s reputation for delivering vital health projects.
The RNSH is one of the state’s major trauma centres. The new building will provide a variety of services including a private mental health unit on level two, a women’s health and maternity unit across levels three and four, a general inpatient unit on level five, and a severe burns unit on level six. A pediatric inpatient unit will make up level seven.
The facility, designed by Building Studio Architects and Woods Bagot, will incorporate new technologies and be a flexible form to ensure that emerging trends in clinical practice and care models can be easily incorporated into the building.
Construction on the project will commence in early April 2013 with the building expected to be fully operational in late 2014.
