STOCKLAND has awarded Brookfield Multiplex the contract to redevelop the $125 million Stockland Wetherill Park shopping centre in south west Sydney.
Located at 561-583 Polding St, the centre is approximately 35km from Sydney’s CBD and only 10km from the Parramatta City Centre.
The redevelopment will add 15,944 sqm of gross lettable area to the centre, bringing the total to over 62,400 sqm with an additional 704-space car park. It is expected that six new mini major tenancies will be constructed in the new extension, which will accommodate approximately 96 retail stores along with a 680 seat gourmet food hall. The existing medical centre will also be relocated and the Hoyts Cinema and several other specialty retail tenancies will be refurbished and upgraded.
“We have forged a strong relationship in recent years having been involved in the redevelopment of Stockland Merrylands, completed in October last year, as well as Stockland Shellharbour which we’re set to handover mid this year,”
Brookfield Multiplex’s NSW regional director David Ghannoum said.
“These projects haven’t just delivered world-class shopping facilities but have also had a significant and positive impact on the surrounding community, which is a priority for both us and Stockland,” he added.
Designed by Crone Partners, Stockland Wetherill Park will be developed to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Certified Design and As Built Rating through the inclusion of ESD features such as high efficiency air conditioning systems, low usage water equipment and fixtures and solar cells to generate electricity.
Construction will take place over eight stages and is scheduled for completion by late 2015.
