THE Cardinia Shire Council has awarded Watpac Construction the $22 million contract to design and construct the council’s new administration building in Officer, Victoria.
It will comprise three levels of office space and multi-purpose council facilities on the ground floor including meeting and consultation rooms, reception, customer service areas and retail tenancy.
Watpac Construction’s Victorian State Manager Nick Pavlovic said the new building would be located within the proposed Officer town centre and formed part of the Places Victoria long-term urban renewal plan for the Cardinia municipality.
“The building will be designed and constructed to achieve 5-Star Green Star and 4.5 Star NABERS ratings, adding to Watpac Construction’s already impressive portfolio of Green Star projects,” Pavlovic said.
Places Victoria acting CEO Simon Wilson said the partnership with Watpac Construction was a significant milestone in the delivery of a new town centre for Officer.
“As the first major building for Officer’s new diverse heart, this building will set the tone of things to come,” Wilson said.
On completion, scheduled for late 2013, the building will be occupied by the Cardinia Shire Council, which is relocating from its current location in Pakenham.
