MELBOURNE law firm Kliger Partners Lawyers has poached property expert Nicole Harris from Gadens.
Harris will be the new principal lawyer at Kligers, after 14 years with Gadens including seven years as property partner.
Kligers head of property law Geoff Kliger said Harris’ broad experience in the field strengthened the large Kliger footprint in Victoria’s property matters.
“Nicole’s appointment demonstrates Kligers confidence in the property practice at a time when the property sector is working through a generally slow period,” he said.
“Particularly, her experience in acting for landlords and institutional clients, in buying and selling commercial property and in retail leasing elevates our services in those areas.
“Her arrival from a larger firm I believe also reflects on our property practice’s pedigree in Melbourne,” he added.
Harris said the move to Kligers was a great opportunity to work with a friendly firm which was regarded as a quiet achiever in property.
She said an emerging challenge in property law was the tight economy’s impact on property development.
“Funding is becoming a primary issue for developers so we can expect a slowing in demand from this sector as developers postpone their new projects.” Harris concluded.
