CBRE's Adelaide and Canberra managing directors are taking part in the 2012 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
The event is part of the St Vincent de Paul Society’s Winter Appeal and aims to highlight the plight of homelessness in Australia by challenging business and community leaders to experience homelessness first-hand for just one night.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout takes place in every capital city across Australia on Thursday 21 June 2012 with business leaders provided a basic soup meal and cardboard for bedding and shelter.
Taking part in the event are Adelaide managing director Philip Rundle, and Canberra managing director Andrew Stewart.
For the third consecutive year, Rundle will join many CEOs, business and community leaders sleeping out overnight at the Adelaide Zoo. He is currently among the top 10 fundraisers in South Australia having raised $8,025 for the event so far.
Rundle said he continued to support the event as the night was an insightful experience into the realities of homelessness.
In Canberra, Stewart will join over 154 government and community leaders to brave the cold conditions at the National Gallery of Australia.
Stewart said that by sleeping rough first hand he hoped to develop a greater understanding of homelessness and raise much needed funds for Vinnies Homeless services.
