DIVERSIFIED property group Australand has signed up as the principal sponsor of the new Green Building Council of Australia’s Green Star – Performance rating tool.
GBCA’s chief executive Romilly Madew said the principal sponsorship status emphasises Australand’s commitment to being a market leader in sustainable building practices.
“We are delighted to have Australand’s support for Green Star – Performance, which we believe will revolutionise Australia’s property and construction industry. Australand’s expertise and experience will be essential as we develop an holistic rating tool with environmental benchmarks for all types of buildings in operation,” she added.
Australand’s commercial and industrial executive general manager Sean McMahon said the sponsorship further reinforces Australand’s commitment to sustainability and support of the GBCA.
“Closing the gap between Green Star Design and As Built is essential for the industry to ensure that green designs are translating into better performing buildings for owners, users and the community. Australand has a strong track record in operational performance with an average office portfolio rating of 3.8 stars NABERS Energy. Green Star – Performance will provide an opportunity for the industry to understand a building’s environmental performance more clearly, and beyond the areas of energy and water,” he added.
