THE Plenary Living Consortium has reached a financial close with Defence on project single living environment and accommodation precinct.
The project has a total funding requirement of some $900 million and project LEAP Phase 2 is a 33 year contract for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of 3,015 permanent accommodation units on 14 Defence bases across Australia.
Watpac’s managing director Greg Kempton said that as part of this nation wide project, Watpac would deliver 979 units at various military bases in Queensland, Victoria and the ACT worth a total end value of approximately $247 million.
“Watpac has excellent credentials in this space having been involved in the successful LEAP 1 project. Our participation in the LEAP 2 project sees Watpac secure another significant long term construction contract resulting in that division’s work in hand being approximately $1.8 billion at 30 June 2011. Watpac is pleased to again partner with Plenary Group who were the consortium sponsor on the LEAP Phase 1 project. Watpac has also submitted an EOI in conjunction Plenary Group on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital project,” he added.
Over a three year construction phase the total investment in the upgrade of on-base accommodation will create some 1,550 jobs nationally.
The Plenary Living consortium includes Plenary Group; Compass Group Australia; Watpac;
Built Environs; Pindan; Richard Crookes Constructions; and Sitzler.
