HANSEN Yuncken has started work on the new $76 million Rundle Place retail project in Rundle Mall, Adelaide.
The new precinct by Pacific Shopping Centres will be home to major retailer Harris Scarfe, which has been a long term tenant on the site, and a new full line Coles supermarket.
Approximately 30,000 sqm of gross floor space will be split over 4 levels, and will add 90 specialty stores and a podium level car park for 200 vehicles. The project is due for completion in early 2013.
Hansen Yuncken CEO Joe Barr said the company was excited to be involved in another iconic retail project in South Australia.
“This site has been home to Harris Scarfe’s flagship store for more than 90 years, and we’re very pleased to have the opportunity to once again be part of the changing face of the famous Rundle Mall retail precinct,” he added.
Barr said Hansen Yuncken also was in negotiations for a second stage of the Rundle Place project, which would include an $80 million tower with 28,000 sqm of A-grade office accommodation to be built to a 5 star Green Star rating.
The tower, to accommodate the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, would be set back from Rundle Mall and would have a dedicated lobby entrance off Grenfell St.
