CHARTER Hall has appointed John Harkness as independent chairman, replacing David Southon who will remain on the board as an executive director.
The appointment was flagged by Charter Hall as a medium term initiative at the time of the acquisition of the majority of Macquarie Group’s real estate management platform in February last year and is in line with the ASX’s Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations.
Harkness has served as an independent director for over seven years. He is also the chairman of Reliance Rail Group and a director of Goodman Group and Sinclair Knight Merz Management Pty Limited.
At the same time as this appointment, John Harkness will resign from his current position as chairman of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and Maurice Koop will be take on the role.
Harkness will continue as a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
