PROBUILD has started construction on the $300 million redevelopment of Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s west.
The redevelopment, expected to be completed in the first half of 2013, will add more than 30,000 sqm of space, taking the total to 156,000 sqm.
“It’s a real honour to be working at Highpoint Shopping Centre again with the Besen family, and with our new client GPT. We have a long history of construction at the site. In fact, we’ve completed every major stage of expansion at the centre since the early nineties,” Probuild managing director Phil Mehrten said.
“We’re really proud of our history and experience on major retail developments, delivering iconic projects such as Chadstone Shopping Centre and the recent redevelopment of Myer in Melbourne. Stage 20 Highpoint will allow us extend our relationship with GPT and Highpoint Property Group and deliver this important project for the people of western Melbourne,” he concluded.
The centre will include the region’s first David Jones department store, approximately 100 new shops and 1,000 new car spaces.
