HANSEN Yuncken has completed the handover of the Cairns Airport domestic terminal redevelopment.
The $200 million construction project, completed on time and on budget, now makes Cairns Airport’s domestic terminal the most modern and efficient in Australia.
Hansen Yuncken’s Queensland state manager Tony Swan said the company was excited to be able to deliver on such a large scale project that would ultimately contribute to growth in Cairns tourism; attracting more airlines and more flights to and from more destinations.
“Departing passengers will now enjoy 36 common check-in counters and a new departures lounge that is almost twice the size of the previous facility. More retail spaces have also been created within the terminal,” he added.
Construction on the terminal started in late 2007, and follows the company’s award-winning development of Adelaide Airport’s Terminal 1 building in 2005.
