THE need for Specialist Retail Valuers has been met with the first nine SRVs receiving accreditation from the Australian Property Institute (Vic).
API Vic has launched the Small Business Commissioner’s guidelines relating to ‘Current Market Rental and Specialist Retail Valuers’.
API president Chris Plant said the accreditation of the first nine Specialist Retail Valuers started in May last year with three intensive Professional Certificate Courses entitled “Specialist Retail Valuer Professional Certificate”.
“The need for these course arises from the Retail Leases Act 2003 which requires the determination of market rent disputes by Specialist Retail Valuers for premises that are subject to the Act.
“Whilst the Act sets out the experience criteria for a valuer to be considered a Specialist Retail Valuer, the API recognised a public and business need to accredit its members as Specialist Retail Valuers to ensure that all parties to a retail rental dispute were serviced by the most professional valuers possible,” he added.
Small Business Commissioner Mark Brennan who presented the nine SRVs with their specialist certificates, also presents at the course along with other leading retail property players, lawyers, surveyors and retailers in conjunction with highly experienced professional valuer members of the API.
Following the success of the professional certificate course, the API has trade marked the professional title “API Accredited Specialist Retail Valuer”.
