PUNTERS have not renewed their love affair with the residential property auction market last Saturday, according to Australian Property Monitors' Home Price Guide.
On the weekend, Melbourne reported 245 auctions and so far 51 properties sold totalling $13.5 million. The same time a year ago, there were 652 auctions and 370 sales totalling $191.6 million.
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria’s figures show there were 171 sales totalling $86.89 million and 75 properties were passed in. Auctions were eclipsed by private sales, where 662 properties were transacted totalling $242.76 million.
Last Saturday, the most expensive sale was a two bedroom house in Glen Iris for $745,000 whilst the cheapest was a developable land in Taylors Hill for $186,500.
The Home Price Guide reported a weekly improvement in Sydney. There were 147 auctions and 101 sales last Saturday totalling $49 million – up from 112 auctions and 85 sales for $40.1 million a week earlier.
The most expensive property sold was property at Fairfield for $1.92 million and cheapest was a studio apartment at Willoughby for $142,000.
In Adelaide, there were 11 auctions and four sales totalling $1.5 million whilst Brisbane recorded 20 auctions and seven sales totalling $2.1 million.
