CBRE shops & finds new retail chief

CB Richard Ellis has appointed self employed property specialist Steve Wakeham to head its retail investments division in the Pacific region.

Wakeham previously headed his own business, SGW Properties, which has successfully delivered eight retail development projects throughout Australia and prior to that, was an international director at Jones Lang LaSalle, where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s retail service offering in Asia Pacific.

CBRE’s Australia & New Zealand president Tom Southern said Wakeham’s appointment would strengthen the group’s existing retail team and create significant potential for growth via new business development.

“We have spent a great deal of time and energy looking for the right opportunity to build a dominant position across Australia and New Zealand in this field,” Southern concluded. “Steve’s recruitment will allow us to build on the successes we’ve achieved this year in the retail investment market while delivering synergistic benefits across our leasing, management and development offerings.”
