CONSTRUCTION has started on Top Ryde City, the largest retail project underway in Australia.
The first concrete slab was poured this month in the redevelopment of
Bovis Lend Lease was awarded the $470 million contract for
Lend Lease design and Krikis Tayler are the architects for the project.
Occupying a 3.5 hectare site on the corner of Devlin and Blaxland Roads in Ryde, in Sydney’s Central North, the retail component of Top Ryde City will incorporate 78,215 sqm of retail space including approximately 270 specialty stores as well as Myer, Woolworths, Big W, Franklins, Aldi and a cinema complex, with 3055 car spaces in a mix of above-ground and underground parking.
Demolition works have been completed on the existing 20,000 square-metre shopping centre and major road and infrastructure relocations have taken place.
The
Construction is expected to take three years with the centre opening progressively from late 2009.
