BOVIS Lend Lease has started the refurbishment of another nine floors at the Kador Group's 500 Collins Street building in Melbourne.
The project represents the first tenanted high-rise CBD office refurbishment in
Bovis Lend Lease commenced the refurbishment of building in 2005 and to date has completed 12 office floors of the 26 storey building.
Bovis Lend Lease’s Victorian general manager Geoff Moore said
“Bovis Lend Lease has worked closely with the Kador Group over the course of the refurbishment to achieve an outstanding improvement in the building’s environmental performance,”
“Reducing the environmental impact of existing buildings represents the greatest challenge facing the Australian property sector at present and as more and more tenants demand higher environmental performance from their workspaces, sustainable refurbishments will become increasingly prevalent,” he added.
The project involves the installation of chilled beam air-conditioning technology throughout the building, solar panels on the roof that provide over 25% of the tower’s domestic hot water needs, energy efficient light fittings and waterless urinals, while all materials used have been sourced according to their low environmental impact.
