THE Catholic Archdiocese's office building development, VS1, in Adelaide's Victoria Square has received a 6 Green Star rating.

The 10 level $140 million project in the centre of the Adelaide CBD, comprises 25,000 sqm of office and laboratory space with undercroft car park.
Innovative ‘green’ features of the VS1 building include under floor displacement air conditioning utilising 100% outside air, a veil on the western façade to provide sun shading, a full height atrium to allow natural light in the heart of the building, use of recycled water for toilets, and a gas fired co-generation plant aimed at minimising peak power energy consumption.
VS1 is currently being constructed by Hansen Yuncken and will become SA Water’s new headquarters when completed in late 2008.
Hansen Yuncken’s chief executive Peter Kennedy said the rating was due recognition of Hansen Yuncken and the whole project team’s commitment to achieving its environmentally sustainable objectives for the project.
