Macquarie Leisure rollout new centres

MACQUARIE Leisure Trust has opened two new bowling and entertainment centres in North Strathfield and Darling Harbour.

In addition, the group has launched the Kingpin Bowling Lounge and corporate function centre at Sydney’s Harbourside Shopping Centre Darling Harbour. This multi-million dollar, 3,500 sqm entertainment venue combines 20 bowling lanes with interactive games, a soon-to-be licensed bar, lounge areas, restaurant and, coming soon, M9 Laser Skirmish.

Chief executive Greg Shaw said the new centres reinforce Macquarie Leisure’s strategy to reposition bowling to cater to a broader market – improving facilities for traditional bowling and league patrons but also incorporating areas for corporate events, birthdays and social nights out.

“The $6.0 million new AMF centre at North Strathfield was one of the most important developments to date for the bowling business,” he added. “The $5.0 million Kingpin Harbourside development will have strong appeal to social bowlers, while also offering an exciting venue for children’s parties and corporate events,”

Macquarie Leisure purchased the Kingpin assets in August 2006, including Kingpin Bowling at Crown Casino and the adjoining amusement and entertainment venues Galactic Circus and M9 Laser Wars.  The development of the new Kingpin Harbourside provides a world class bowling and entertainment venue in the immediate vicinity of Sydney’s CBD.
