CENTRO has secured three long term leases with department stores Myer and Harris Scarfe for its shopping centres in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.
Myer will move into two centres, 10,150 sqm at Centro Bankstown and 4,510 sqm at Centro Colonnades and Harris Scarfe has agreed to lease 2,500 sqm at Centro Whitehorse.
All three centres have recently undergone significant redevelopment, with Centro Bankstown and Centro Colonnades both having recently completed major extensions.
Centro Whitehorse was substantially redeveloped in 2004, and continues to benefit from the active remixing of retailers.
Chief executive Andrew Scott said both Myer and Harris Scarfe are experienced department store operators and will add significant value for other retailers and shoppers at each of Centro Bankstown in
Chief operating officer Graham Terry said department stores have performed very strongly over the last 12 months with impressive sales growth.
“Myer and Harris Scarfe have signed long term leases for centres into which Centro continues to invest significant resources to developing and creating both optimal environments for retailers to trade and local communities to shop.”
“These new stores will allow further redevelopment at Centro Bankstown and Centro Whitehorse to proceed. Centro is very pleased that both Myer and Harris Scarfe have committed to these centres, and will work with both retailers to ensure successful sales results,” Terry said.
