Investa has become the first Australian property fund manager to receive the Sustainable Responsible Investment Certification.
Investa received the certification for its two principal funds Investa Diversified Office Fund and Investa Commercial Property Fund.
To achieve this certification, Investa had to meet the strict disclosure requirements of the world’s only SRI Certification Program which was launched in
Investa’s group executive of external funds Les Vance said the demand for SRI funds has grown as investors have become more aware of environmental, social and ethical issues.
Sustainable Responsible Investment and Ethical Investment funds under management in Australia grew 56% in the financial year 2006, up from $7.67 billion to $11.98 billion, according to the 2006 SRI Benchmarking Report prepared by Corporate Monitor for the Ethical Investment Association.
Ethical Investment Association’s executive director Louise O’Halloran said the sustainability work undertaken by Investa in recent years is exemplary by world standards.
As a Certified SRI fund, Investa is now licensed to use the SRI Symbol, the trade mark of the Certification Program.
