MFS real appetite for NZ planners

MFS is set to acquire Colin Strang Financial Planning, a boutique financial advisory firm operating out of Dunedin in New Zealand's South Island.

This is the third acquisition of a financial services company following the buyout of Swain also in NZ’s South Island in March and the Northplan Group in NZ’s North Island earlier this year.

The acquisition of Strang brings the total funds under management and under advice within MFS’ New Zealand financial advisory businesses to in excess of $NZ900million.

MFS is in the process of re-branding all of its financial advisory businesses to Vestar Investment Specialists.

MFS’ New Zealand chief executive Jason Maywald said Strang would be merged into Vestar and subsequently into MFS’ existing New Zealand business.

Vestar is now one of the largest financial advisory groups in New Zealand.
