Lend Lease is set to build a six level A-grade office building within its Jacksons Landing community at Pyrmont Point.
The building will be located at 21 Harris Street on the corner of Bowman Street.
Once complete the building will comprise approximately 15,000 sqm of space and up to 180 underground carparks.
The building will only be the second major commercial building at Jacksons Landing. The first development, the Nokia Building was completed in 1999 and is located on the opposite corner at 19 Harris Street.
With DA approval expected before Christmas, agent DTZ Australia has been seeking pre-commitment interest in the space.
Lend Lease’s project director of Jacksons Landing Rob Deck said the strength of the Sydney commercial market had given Lend Lease the confidence to proceed with the building.
“We’ve had this site earmarked for commercial development for several years. The precinct has evolved to such an extent that it is one of Sydney’s most desirable, and is home to some of the country’s leading companies. We believe the time is right.” he added.
DTZ Australia’s director of leasing Julian Grosvenor said Pyrmont has become one of Sydney’s key business areas.
“It is just minutes from Darling Harbour and is well supported by transport links and infrastructure, and holds great appeal to media and telecommunications companies, in particular,” he added.
More than 2,000 people currently live within Jacksons Landing which, at 11.7-hectares, is one of Australia’s largest waterfront developments.
The project has been taking shape for the past eight years and is almost 70% completed.
When finalised, around 2012, Jacksons Landing will comprise 1,350 apartments, terraces, heritage warehouse conversions and town-homes.
