The Queensland Government has given Devine the green light start on its master-planned residential community called Hideaway @ Currumbin on the Gold Coast, after the project was “called-in” in September this year.
Devine’s managing director David Devine said the project could now proceed as planned.
“We welcome the Government’s decision to fully endorse the Gold Coast City Council’s approval process for Hideaway @ Currumbin in March this year. For three years we have been planning Hideaway @ Currumbin and at each stage have implemented best practice processes.
“During the Council development approval phase, we prepared 68 detailed reports and studies which included 164 design drawings and plans. We have also worked closely with the GCCC officers and consultants as well as seven State Government Departments,” he added.
Devine said the GCCC’s approval process for Hideaway @ Currumbin was confirmed in the Planning and Environment Court in early June.
“In June 2005 the Federal Department of Environment and Heritage assessed our plans under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
“We welcome the Queensland Government’s decision today and its recognition of the extensive planning and research completed to date. Planning for Hideaway @ Currumbin has been rigorous, thoroughly evaluated and comprehensively endorsed by the three levels of government,” he concluded.
