Australand has unveiled the only residential master-planned community land release in Sydney’s inner west – the last major new land release of its size was believed to have been in 1952.
Australand’s award-winning Botanica development at Lidcombe is 14 kilometres from the CBD.
Around 700 Botanica homes will be built in the master planned community over six years. Yesterday, the group announced that a total of 18 lots will be released at on October 28, ranging in size from 450 sqm to 645 sqm.
The Botanica development will occupy a 44 hectare site, within proximity to the M4, M5, Lidcombe Station, schools, shops, Lidcombe TAFE, six major golf courses, Telstra Stadium and Olympic Park and the major centres of Parramatta, Bankstown and Rhodes.
The site was the home of the former Lidcombe Hospital, which was used as the Media Village for the Sydney Olympics. The heritage buildings on the site will be fully restored and used for light commercial and community activities.
Purchasers will have the option of buying an Australand home, selecting land and using their own architect, or choosing from three renowned builders – Eden Brae Homes, Cosmopolitan Living and Domain – who have partnered with Australand on the project.
The only other way to own a new freestanding home in Sydney’s inner-west would be to buy a knock-down. The nearest land release outside of Botanica is at Greystanes in Sydney’s west.
“A knock-down certainly doesn’t offer the advantages of living in a master planned community where there are building and design standards to ensure our purchasers are surrounded by new homes with consistent quality,” Australand’s New South Wales residential general manager Vincent Wee said.
“There aren’t many opportunities left in Sydney to live in such a well located, master-planned community where all of the amenities are complete allowing residents to immediately enjoy the benefits of the 7 hectares of surrounding parklands and water-park,” he concluded.
