Macquarie Goodman and Linfox Property Group have bought an 85 hectare site at Leakes Road, Laverton North, Victoria.
The parties entered into a joint venture in 2005 to develop and own logistics facilities throughout Australia.
The Interchange Industrial Estate development is the first development to be undertaken by the joint venture with further development opportunities forecast for the second half of the year.
Interchange Industrial Estate is located in the heart of Melbourne’s industrial precinct and is one kilometre from the Princes Freeway, with connecting links to the Western Ring Road, West Gate Freeway and Princes Highway.
The site is well positioned, close to major infrastructure with easy access to Melbourne’s Ports and Tullamarine Airport and is only 18 kms from Melbourne’s CBD.
The site comprises 50 hectares of land which is already zoned for the construction of warehouse and distribution facilities. A further 35 hectares will be considered for future industrial zoning opportunities to further develop the site.
Two facilities measuring approximately 28,000 sqm in total have been earmarked for the site with construction likely to commence in the third quarter of 2006.
Interchange Industrial Estate offers customers purpose-built industrial real estate accommodation ranging from 4,000 sqm to in excess of 40,000 sqm.
