Australand’s residential development Discovery Point at Wolli Creek has been given the New South Wales Urban Task Force Development Excellence Award.
NSW Planning Minister Frank Sartor presented the award to joint venture partners Australand and Landcom for the first stage of the development, the $74 million Greenbank apartment building.
Australand’s residential executive general manager Peter Burke said the design of the development showcases Discovery Point as a perfect example of what the Government hopes to achieve through the metropolitan strategy.
Completed in December last year, Greenbank features 135 apartments, six retail lots, heated swimming pool, wading pool and gymnasium.
Stage Two of the development Verge is currently under construction and is due for completion in December this year.
Located less than 15 minutes by train to the city, Discovery Point is historically significant with the restored Tempe House and Magdalen Chapel.
The 2.3 hectares of completed redeveloped parklands are located on the foreshore of the Cooks River and abut the Princes Highway. The park includes a playground, grassed areas and barbeques. Sandstone blocks have been used along the foreshore to the waterline.
