Co-founder and managing editor of Australian Property Journal, Ted McDonnell has announced his resignation from the company.
McDonnell, a former journalist from The Age and The Australian, sold his shareholding in the Australian Property Journal.
McDonnell co-foundered Australian Property Journal with the majority shareholders the Yap family back in May 2003.
McDonnell will return to corporate media and issues management consultancy as well as finish a law degree.
“Australian Property Journal has become some very unique and special for the finance. LPT and property sectors,” McDonnell said yesterday.
“It has now clearly raised the bar in property reporting delivering 10-12 news stories on a daily basis – no other property news group can compare with the way Australian Property Journal operates.”
McDonnell said his resignation was a difficult decision, but it was time to move on especially now that Australian Property Journal is flourishing with ever increasing advertising and rising numbers of paid subscribers which is well in excess of 3000 plus as well as more than 6500 free headline subscribers.
Every day around Australia and the world more than 10,000 individuals are reading Australian Property Journal that is something to be very, very proud of.”
“There are people out there over the past three years who have tried to copy the Australian Property Journal formula – all have failed in an embarrassing way and have only helped emphasise the quality product produced by Australian Property Journal”
Australian Property Journal is now a property news provider to Fairfax Digital’s Domain Commercial.
“I will re-enter the hurly burly world of corporate media and issues management and finally complete that law degree I have been working on for so long.”
Nelson Yap, the newly appointed Managing Editor and Director of Australian Property Journal, praised McDonnell’s contribution to Australian Property Journal.
“He has brought a lot of journalistic experience to Australian Property Journal, which has been mirrored in the quality daily product we now produce.
