The new $13 million building development completed by Melbourne’s Pellicano Builders as the first of two major developments on its 5.24ha Notting Hill Business Campus property will officially opened today.
Located adjacent to Monash University at the corner of Blackburn and Normanby Roads, Notting Hill, the two-storey office with basement car park and detached warehouse has been occupied by power and automation technologies provider ABB Australia Pty Limited.
ABB has taken a 10-year lease on the building, having relocated about 200 employees from its former Port Melbourne and Lilydale sites to the new complex, which will being officially opened today by Cr Geoff Lake, Mayor of the City of Monash.
ABB is using the NBC building complex as its Victorian offices, and as the national head office for the company’s Automation Technologies division.
ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies and is part of the global ABB Group of companies with headquarters in Switzerland.
The project has been built on a 14,240sqm allotment and includes a multi-level office building area of 3,092sqm with 195 car parking spaces.
An internal lift, customer presentation facilities, showroom, conference and video conferencing facilities are some of the features in the building, which has an impressive high quality finish and fit-out throughout.
Pellicano spokesman Nando Pellicano says the building is environmentally friendly, with its high performance, double- glazed two-storey facade and ABB’s I-bus building management system delivering big savings on air conditioning and power costs.
The adjacent warehouse, with a total area of 3,690sqm, has a three-tonne travelling crane and a one-tonne jib crane, plus an ESFR fire sprinkler system.
A workshop and research and development facility is included within the warehouse.
Both buildings have extensive security and services networks.
Pellicano Builders recently concluded arrangements with Toyota Australia to construct a second major complex on the Notting Hill Business Campus site, entering into a land and buildings design and construct contract valued at approximately $47 million with Toyota’s new R & D centre, known as Toyota Design, which will eventually house about 150 people.
“As the new ABB complex is located directly next door to our own head office, we intend to retain the project as a long -term investment” Pellicano added.
