Publicly listed Metroland has only seven remaining apartments to sell at its Zenix development in Sydney's Erskineville. Metroland have sold 217 of the 224 apartments at an average price of $320,000 for one-bedroom apartments and $420,000 for two bedders. Metroland Managing Director Frank Shien says Zenix has set new standards in contemporary development in Sydney’s west. “Zenix is designed with the intention of responding to both the natural environment and the surrounding cityscape,” he said. Zenix overlooks Sydney Park and the CBD, incorporating 224 units in a four-building complex. It overlooks some 40ha of parkland and is near Sydney’s major Universities and a stroll from ever-popular King Street, Newtown. The success of Zenix is reflected in the 39% increase in profits recorded by Metroland in the past financial year. Before tax profit was $4.4 million, compared to $3.1 million last financial year. Mr Shien said only half the sales were recorded in this year’s figures, with the remaining sales to impact upon next year’s results. Metroland shares are presently trading at 25 cents.
